Advanced Search Dialog

The Advanced Search dialog is a tab on the master Search dialog, which also contains Keyword Search. These searches can be called up from a variety of widgets as well as the Search menu.

Advanced Search is a powerful search that allows combinations of metadata fields to be searched for entered terms using a variety of operators.

Criteria Conjunction

This pull-down menu controls whether all criteria rows are considered together an AND or OR search.

Select Field

This combo pulldown allows the user to choose the metadata field that will be searched for the Search Term.

Select Conditions

This combo pulldown allows the user to choose the condition to be used on a given criteria row. These take the form of basic search concepts as "exact phrase", "ends with", "contains", and others.

The user enters a string to be found.

Add/Remove Criteria Row

The "x" and "+" buttons remove or add criteria rows, respectively.

Search within current results

Checking this box will search within the results currently displayed in the View widget, rather than clearing all search criteria and performing a new search.

Keyword Search Tab

This search is more targeted than the advanced search, looking specifically at keywords.

Keyword Entry Field

Keywords may be entered here manually, separating individual keywords with a comma or return key, or terms may be selected below in Frequently Used Keywords.

Frequently Used Keywords

This panel shows a "tag cloud" of currently populated keywords in all assets, weighted with a larger font size based on frequency.

All/Any Keywords Pulldown

The user can select “All” which will return results containing all keywords, or “Any” which returns results with any of the entered keywords.

Search within current results

Checking this box will search within the results currently displayed in the View widget, rather than clearing all search criteria and performing a new search.

Saved Searches Panel

Filter Box

A user can filter the displayed Saved Searches based on the input.

This panel displays searches that have been saved, in three different categories:

  • Advanced Searches: These are searches saved in the Advanced Search Dialog. These searches can be performed by clicking their name, and can be edited by clicking the Load Settings button and then resaving. They also may be deleted by clicking the Delete icon.
  • Keyword Searches: These searches are saved in the Keywords Tab. They can be searched, edited and deleted as a Saved Advanced Search.
  • StatusPanel Searches: These searches are saved in the Search Status panel, and cannot be edited.

Buttons

The buttons at the bottom right of the dialog have the following functions:

  • Clear: This button resets the form in the shown tab.
  • Save: Saves the current search parameters. It opens a dialog, which allows the user to enter a name and description for the search, as well as a toggle for making the search public or private.
  • Create Search Bundle: This creates an asset representation of the search. When you double-click the bundle asset, the search is performed.
  • Search: The performs a search with the entered parameters.

Refine Search

This "Advanced Search" menu option will load the current search criteria into Advanced Search and allow the user to make further additions/subtractions.
